The peaceful, herbivore herds of Slothien were assimilated into the Zerg Swarm in order to produce one of the most fierce and diabolical of the Zerg strains. The evolutionary matrix of the caterpillar-like Slothien was supercharged by the Overmind [...], twisting the hapless creatures into the nightmarish killers known as Hydralisks. These once mild creatures now hunger for blood and violence, and they are infamous for acting in a particularly sadistic fashion. When straighten like cobra, Hydralisk can be 2,5m tall. Full grown subject can weigh up to 2 tons [1].Muscles are also remarkable - it consists of 4000 muscles (copmared to 629 human). [2] The spindly, snake-like Hydralisks house hundreds of armour piercing spines within their upper carapace plates. These spines are fired by muslce contractions in volleys at enemies and they are projected with such force that they can penetrate 2cm Neosteel [3]. The spines are grooved to have greater range, which varies between 30-200 m. The secondary weapon of Hydralisk are two half meter long blades on frontal limbs. The last evolution increased the number of blades to three on each limb. [2] Muscular augments enables the Hydralisk to achieve pretty good speed. It is also able to burrow under the ground to wait for it´s prey. More stronger forms of Hydralisk were observed occasionally, probably belonging to the elite forces of the brood, or maybe they just evolved in the course of time.
