Small, furious beasts from desert planet Zz´gash were integrated into the swarm to be scouts and primary attack soldiers. Though Zerglings are nothing more than raging animals, they work well in larger groups under the control of more intelligent Zerg. Voracious Zerglings can tear enemies apart using their razor-sharp blades at the end of their third pair of limbs. They are also able to burrow under the ground to surprise the enemy or to protect themseves against air strikes. They can move very fast and they have lightning fast reflexes due to metabolic boost and adrenal glands. However because their extremely fast metabolism they age very quickly and die very soon. Average lifespan is only few weeks. They are very good runners and jumpers, due to their flawless skeleton. The weigth of the full-grown Zergling can be between 100-200 kg. The latest evolution form is equipped with small wings, that allows Zergling to overcome obstacles more easily, but they are not suitable for flying. Zerglings can mutate to Baneling [...] form, which is actually moving bomb [1].
