Introduction

As you may recognise at first sight, these pages are about Starcraft. They were originally created to be a knowledge base for few pepole, that enjoyed writing stories from Starcraft universe. The web itself is five years old if I remember correctly and in the time we have gathered all relevant information from the game and aditional resources. After few months the web popularity grew and what started as private project for few, was suddenly very popular web. But what you may still not understand is what makes this web different (I would say uniqe) from thousands of other Starcraft websites. The point is, that this pages (Starcraft Encyclopedia - SCE) are not about Starcraft the game, but Starcraft the universe.

Therefore, you won´t find here unit costs and statistics, mission walkthroughs, cheats, replays, tactics etc. What you will find are texts about everything, that makes Starcraft so cool - description of units, buildings, technologies, weapons, histories, famous characters etc. You will find here cadence of C-14 rifle [...], top speed of marine [...], weigth of Hydralisk etc.

Another important thing, you have to understand, before you enter these pages is that if it were only for official info, there would not be much to write. A lot of info here is unofficial. Unofficial can mean two things. Firstly - it´s information that´s quite obvious but unfortunatelly not oficially confirmed (such as the weigth of siege tank). Secondly - it´s information entirely made up. You may find some of the unofficial things interesting some of them not. The point is - official and unofficial informations are strictly and clearly distinguished by color - oficiall - blue and unoficiall - violet. I took inspiration from similarly oriented website - Daystrom Institue Technical Library. So again. What´s blue is oficiall and it comes from Blizzard in some way (the game, manual, cinematics, oficiall website...). What´s violet is speculation, made up by Starcraft fans. You would wonder how many people can´t understand that and write to me that we have wrong informations.

For a long time I had in plan to translate the pages to english and with the announcement of SC2 I decided, that it is the right time. The most of the content is usually complete, but not yet translated. Unfortunatelly it´s a hard work.
