AAV-5 Arclite siege tank – Mobile artilery
Identify target
Appereance : In game
Heavily armoured tank powered by middle size reactor [...]. It has three crew members : driver, shooter and commander/navigator. The crew is equiped with medium armour, helmets and radio. For all cases there are also three C-17 rifles [...] (shorter version of C-14). The tank is equiped with oxigen tanks, air filter, NBC protection, life support and two reflectors. It moves using 4 caterpillars therefore it can move through difficult terrain (not so difficult as Goliath [...]) in desert, swamp or snow. The tank can overcome 65° elevation. The turret carries two Arclite cannons. These 80mm cannons [...] are designe for short ranged engagement. Their effectivnes is fatal for almost any target. Used munition is HEAP (High explosive armour piercing). However, the cannons have difficulties with targeting smaller and fast targets, therefore the hull has several mounts for machine guns or flamethrowers [...] - on top of the hull between two caterpillars, on the turret and on aft. Originally when the tank was designed, two missile launchers were on the turret so that the tank is universal against any enemy. But later it was decided, that the tank would be used as mobile artilery and therefore it will be more one-sided. Now the tank is defenceless against aerial attack. Instead of missile launchers the tank is equiped with 120mm Arclite shock cannon [...]. This long range and highly destructive weapon require the tank to stabilize his position by deploying several support girders. Recent subtypes even move their caterpillars to X shape to be more stable. The shock cannon is on the other side of the turret than the 80mm cannons are. It fires pack of several HEAP charges at distance in tens of kilometers. The shock cannon has quite large dispersion, but amazing effect.
