C-80 is almost 400m long space equivalent of dropship [...]. It transports cargo, amunition, building material or army among the star systems. The cargo space has volume equivalent to 30 dropships and hangars for 8 of them. The dropships that can transport the cargo to the planet surface. The cargoship itself is not able to fly into the atmosphere, so the unloading is entirely up to smaller dropships. The cargoship is designed to transport cargo with super-light speeds from one system to another. As usuall for transport ship, it has no armament, so it can use maximum space for the cargo. However, some cargoships may be equipped with missile launchers or laser batteries [...] for their protection to chase off lonely pirates. The crew numbers are variable, but average is 50 members - officers, technicians and pilots.

C-90 has almost identical hull shape to C-80. But instead of cargo, it serves as a carrier for Wraiths [...]. It is equipped with mobile anchors, that grab the fighters and move them inside the hull. Sophisticated construction enables the ship to transport up to 60 fighters. However, the C-90 is not comparable to the protoss carrier [...]. The fighters inside the C-90 can be repaired or rearmed, but these actions are not automatic. Protoss carrier provides full support to it´s interceptors [...], including fully automated repairs and recharge, replication of new parts or even whole new ships. Moreover carriers carry hundreds of fighters and are able to deploy them within seconds. Deployment of one single Wraith takes longer and unloading the whole C-90 takes tens of minutes and it´s not an operation, that can be done in the heat of battle. Cargoships are not even well armoured, so when uder fire, they don´t provide the fighters with much protection.

There are many types of cargoships. Because the requirements to these ships are not as high as for military ships, even older or obsolete types like C-40, C-44 etc. remain in service. C-80 and C-90 are the most recent models.
